Keep in Mind while building Sauna…
Before the sweat:
🔥 Gratitude for the flame must be held during the build. Set an intention while building. 🔥
1. Ventilation Fresh air intake should be positioned low, near the heater, and exhaust near the ceiling. Have the vent slides inside sauna and a small peice of screen on the outside
2. Heater Placement opposite side of the door. make sure there is at least 3” of clearance all around the stove.
3. Wood I’ll let Mike H know you guys will be ordering from him. I’d recommend talking to him about the amount you’ll need. I recommend cedar, aspen or hemlock.
4. Insulation Insulation R-19 walls and R-30 ceiling. Foil should be placed on the hot side of the insulation, meaning on the interior wall, between the insulation and the wood paneling. it should be continuous with no gaps, lapped and taped at seams. I wouldnt put insulation on the floors bc the floors can get too hot and you’d rather them cooler.
5. Benches I can let you know the width of ginkgos. they are the best width. You’ll want the lower bench to be at the height or above the top of the stove. Around 18 inches of spacing between the top and bottom bench. You can decide how much space you’d like between the top bench and the ceiling. You and Tyson are tall.
6. Drainage System I don’t have one, up to you.
7. Add your artistic touch. There’s so much more you can do with this LIVING SCULPTURE. See it as so. It is very much conscious and alive, so come up with an intention and name.
8. Materials They will be arriving in 2-3 weeks. Let me know when you’d like me to make the window order. You guys will handle wood order. But I’ll put you in contact with Mike.
